VARIATION INFORMATION

Background colour varies somewhat, and veining is significantly more noticeable.
The inherent randomness of nature means that no two stones are ever going to be precisely the same. To give you an idea of the range of possible colour, movement, and veining variations, we’ve included these codes below. As a result of inherent flaws and differences in the stone’s composition, no image or sample can do justice to the real thing. Before installation, be sure to unpack and examine every stone. Marble Systems will not be held responsible for variations in stone that occur after installation.

Important Notes

If you plan on using this kind of stone in a damp place, you should seal it regularly as part of your regular maintenance schedule. Some of these materials may have exposed or dry seams, which, when illuminated, could give the impression of dullness. The stone is naturally made this way, thus it’s not a flaw.

The material needed is white thin-set or mortar. This is true for any kind of limestone, as well as for “antiqued stones” and marbles of a lighter shade. The presence of fossils, pits, and dry seams may be identified in these stones. These spaces are often filled in during manufacturing for polished and honed stones. It is common practice to fill these spaces with grout when installing rustic or tumbling stones, and even some honed limestone. No matter whether the fill is added during manufacturing or installation, it will eventually settle into the spaces. As part of the regular maintenance schedule, it may be required to fill these spaces in certain cases.
